Button Contest 2012

Congratulations to our button winners!

They are:

Joanne Tsukamoto - 1st Place - $100
Julie Sutherland - 2nd Place - $50
Karen Booth - 3rd Place - $25

We had an exceptionally well entered contest this year, thanks to Debbie Arrington from the Sacramento Bee who was kind enough to put an article in the paper regarding our contest.  We ended up with 50 entries!  We unfortunately had to limit the number to be voted on, so we started with 20 entries.  The membership voted on their top six favorites and from there we voted a second time for our number one, two and three top entries.  We are very pleased with our button winner, who caught the essence of what our theme, Crazy for Camellias, meant.  Joanne's drawing was brought to "Buttonworks" where they made her drawing into a button.

The new button is now available for purchase!  Please call me (see below) and I will be happy to take your order.  We will have lots of buttons at the Show on March 3rd, so please stop by the Information Booth or the Hostess area to buy a button.  Sale of the buttons help keep us going as a group.  So please help us out by purchasing one (or two...) at the Show.

Thank you everyone for entering the button contest this year and we hope that you enter again next year!

Congratulations to Randall Ishida for his winning poem in 2011!

Here it is:

Camellias are...

Camellias are flowers for show,
Each on with a special glow.
Camellias come in different blooms, sizes and shapes
...some, so delicate just like crepes.
Camellias come bright red
And look nice in a flower bed.
Camellias are pink
So pretty they make you think.
Camellias bloom white,
Oh, what a wonderful sight.
Camellias in the sun look nice
Even when it's cold and covered in ice.
Camellias take time to mature and grow
So they will be ready to show.
Camellias take lots of care
And soon they'll be ready to share.

Poem Contest 2012

Start thinking about the poem you want to write for the 2011-2012 Camellia Season.  It's easy to do!  Just write it and hand it over to one of our board members.  We haven't decided who will be on the poem contest team this year.

Happy Penning!
